dc.description.abstract | Anther culture in indica rice is found hardly to induce callus. The objectives of this study are to establish anther media for calli induction of rice cultivars MR232 and MR219 mutant 9. The seeds obtained from Rice Gene Bank, MARDI Research Station, Seberang Perai, Pulau Pinang. Boots containing immature spikelets were used for microspore explants. The anthers were cultured in sterilised condition. Anthers were cultured on SKI media added with combination of 2, 4-D, kinetin and NAA at varying concentration. The higher number of anthers survived in Treatment 6 for MR232 at top part. Treatment 4 which containing combination of 0.75mg/L 2, 4-D, 0.5mg/L kinetin and 2mg/L NAA able to induce high calli frequency about 3.33% derived from anther in cultivar MR232. There are high frequency of calli found in cultivar MR232 and found to be suitable in combination of different concentration of 2, 4-D, kinetin and NAA which are combination of 0.75mg/L 2, 4-D, 0.5mg/L kinetin and 2mg/L NAA. | en_US |
