Abstract: | Hydroxyapatite (HA), (Ca10(P04)6(0H)2) is closely related in our life as a mam component in material bone, orthopedic, and teeth importantly in future as its composition is nearly identical with mineral composition in human bone and has ability binding in the bone. Calcium phosphate which reacts with calcium hydroxide produces hydroxyapatite. The objective of this study is to produce the HA powder from bovine bone for reproduction in bone formation. In this study, sintering method is used with different temperatures which are between 800 °C, 900 °C, 1000 °C, 1100 °C and 1200 °C at 1 and 2 hours time period for each temperature. The particle sizes that are used in this study are 53 μm, 106 μm and 250 μm. Samples were analyzed by using SEM, EDS, XRD and FTIR. Results of SEM-EDS showed that the HA powder in size of 53 μm which is heated at 1200 °C in 2 hours as the best HA product in this study and the weight element of calcium for the size of 53 μm is the highest which is at 50.60 %. Results of FTIR showed that ions phosphate (PO/-), ions hydroxyl (Off) and ions carbonate (Co/-) are present. After sintering, the FTIR spectra showed that the phosphate ion exists at 1000 cm-1 • Results of XRD showed that sintering at a higher temperature obtains the best crystalline of HA. From this result, it proves that the HA sample is influenced by size, temperature and period. The best result which is obtained in this research is smaller particle size, high temperature and long heating period. |
