Optimization of growth conditions is a prerequisite for the mass culturing of algae in aquaculture and other biotechnological applications. Current study conducted sampling of eight locations around Lake Chini and water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, DO nutrients and other parameters were shown within the permissible levels. pH was acidic due to the huge quantity of decaying plant matter. From the water samples collected, pure culture of Ankistrodesmus sp. was isolated after several attempts of centrifugation and agar plate streaking. Standard keys and molecular techniques (18S rDNA method) proved the identification of algae to be Ankistrodesmus falcatus.en_US
