Mud crabs are among the commercially important aquatic animals because of high demand in Asian countries. Currently, one of the main constraints for expansion of mud crab aquaculture is the inconsistent and low hatchery production of crab juveniles. The use of beneficial bacteria offers a promising approach in aquaculture to prevent infections by pathogenic bacteria, and has been shown to help reduce mortality after infection. The goals of this study were to isolate, identify and evaluate potential probiotic bacteria from the gut of wild orange mud crab from Setiu Wetlands, Terengganu.en_US
