Abstract:
A study was conducted mainly to determine the suitable media of calli induction for
indica rice cultivars MR 219 Mutant-4 and MR 84. The inductions of callus using
different combination of 2,4-D, NAA and kinetin were observed within 60 days. SK I
media was used for anther inoculation treated with different concentration of 2,4-D, NAA
and kinetin to induce callus. There was no emergence of callus for all treatment after 60
days. So, data was recorded with regard to the ability of anther to survive. For rice
cultivars MR 219 Mutant-4, treatment 12 with 2.0mg/L 2,4-D, 1.0mg/L kinetin and
3.0mg/L NAA was the best treatment where I 00% of anther planted survived. On the
other hand, for cultivars MR 84, treatment 2 with 0.5mg/L 2,4-D, 0.1 mg/L kinetin and
3.0mg/L NAA and treatment 11 with 2.0mg/L 2,4-D, 1.0mg/L kinetin and 3.0mg/L NAA
showed highest percentage of anther survival (99.71 %). The media used in this study
were not suitable for callus induction cultivars MR 84 and MR 219 Mutant-4. There was
no new media establish for anther culture of rice cultivars MR 84 and MR 219 Mutant-4.
