Blood cockles, Anadara granosa known as a popular shellfish that uptake as
undercooked or raw shellfish by the Malaysians and tourists. In Malaysia, only West
Coast of Peninsular Malaysia that is able to produce the blood cockles. Bad seasonal
environment hampered the blood cockle production at the East Coast of Peninsular
Malaysia. Samples of blood cockles purchased in Terengganu but originated from
West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia were taken for bacterial isolation and
identification. In this study only sucrose fermenting colonies on TCBS agar were
selected. Out of this, 12 isolates been identified as Vibrio spp. They were Gramnegative,
motile, sensitive to 0/129 vibriostatic agent, oxidase positive and do not
produce hydrogen sulphide. |
