dc.description.abstract Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is situated on the eastern side of the mouth of the Pulai River in South-West Johor and near to the Straits of Malacca. Besides that, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is near the Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing. Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is one of the developing ports and one of the busiest ports in Malaysia. Based on The Star newspaper that was posted on 06 February 2012, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) was grown by 15% compared with the industry growth of 7% for year 2011. Besides that, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is the second largest container port in Malaysia that also has the highest total container throughput and it increase year by year. When the total container throughput is increase, the total number of ship's calling will increase too. It is because of many ships come to Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) for loading and unloading the cargo. The anchorage area becomes congested with the ships. Therefore, this research was conducted to analyse how Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) organizes the anchorage area and to recommend the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) the new anchorage management style or method if require and also to increase the safety of ships at anchorage area. After doing the research, it is found that the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) should have the anchorage management by dividing the anchorage area into different sizes of ships. en_US
