dc.description.abstract Kenyir Lake is a multi-use lake that is a major tourist destination involving the use of vessels and navigation with substantial economic contribution. The increment number of lake user combined with current non-standard navigation practices and infrastructure is risky and may be hazardous to human life and vessels on the lake. The combination of qualitative and quantitative research methodology has its merits and the use of Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) followed by Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential hazards and calculate the Risk Probability Number is a first in inland navigation research. The findings can be used to improve safety of navigation and these methods is helpful for the improvement and assessment in lake safety from a practical perspective. en_US
