Abstract:
Mangrove forests are a productive and rich natural resource that benefits local
economies and societies. The objective of this thesis is to develop a simple tree volume
equation as to be used in the construction of Local Volume Table (LVT) for
Rhizophora apiculata at Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve. Diameter at the Breast
Height (DBH) and merchantable height was collected during inventory. For the
purpose of volume table development, all trees (n-196) were felled and sectional
diameter every 1.6 meter was measured. Volume for each trees then calculated using
Newton’s formula. Statistic test such as liner regression correlation and F test were
used to determine the relationship between diameter and volume and also to estimate
the parameter for volume equation. There for Standard Volume Table (SVT) was
develop to compare between a new and old volume equation to determine relationship
between diameter and volume equation. The result for LVT show the best of
estimation is designation I is a form of Log, the type is LnV = a + LnD, the R² is a
high, Volume Over Bark 0.962 and Volume Under Bark 0.916, F test from ANOVA
table show be able to significant. There are the result for SVT show the best of
estimation is designation I is a form of Power, the type is V = a Dᵇ Hᶜ, the R² is a high,
Volume Over Bark 0.980 and Volume Under Bark 0.979, F test from ANOVA table
show be able to significant. Compare Mean Absolute Percentage (MAPE) for
validation data LVT and SVT is result are insignificant (p > 0.05), p-value LVT
