A preliminary management plan of mangrove forest around UPMT area

Abstract

The area around UPMT has a lot mangrove trees growing. The species of mangrove trees here are mainly Rhizophora sp. and Sonneratia sp .. The number of mangrove tree here is descending as compared to 20 years back. The decreases in number of mangrove tree can be stop by having a proper management plan. The local people here do not appreciate mangrove forest and they are destroying it. To protect this area from destruction by local people, it is needed to rise their awareness of the valuable of mangrove forest by conducting activities together with local people regarding mangrove forest. Other than that, development of this area has destroyed the nature of this forest. Hence, this process damages the mangrove seedling and old trees too.
