Abstract:
Educational computer games (ECGs) present an appealing environment that engage
students in activities which deliver substantive educational content. It can aid the
development of proficiency by allowing users to interact with objects and manipulate
variables. The medium of ECGs provides an opportunity for instructors to introduce
educational and playful elements into learning environment. Currently, many ECGs
are created using game engines. They usually offer a suite of visual development tools
and reusable software components. These tools are generally provided in an integrated
development environment to enable simplified, rapid development of games in the
data-driven manner.
