This study was carried out to determine the mean intensity and prevalence of
ectoparasites of lionhead goldfish (Carasius arratus). A total of 30 samples of lionhead
goldfish were selected from ornamental fish shop at Gong Badak. The fish were
maintained in aquarium, for examination in the laboratory. Examination of ectoparasites
began with skin smear and gill smear. The result showed that only two parasites have
been identified from group monogenea, Gyrodactylus sp and two Trichodina sp from
group protozoa. Total samples of Trichodina sp. 1 (n=30) had been measured for the
species identification. The prevalence and mean intensity of Gyrodactylus sp was
recorded with 93.33% and 30.82 while Trichodina sp. 96.67% and 70.21, respectively |
