Sedimentology and accretion rate at Sg. Haji Dorani, Sabak Bernam, Selangor

Abstract

This final year project was conducted in Sg. Haji Dorani area, where the study area is a mud beach and near to mangrove area. The objective of this study is to determine the sediment characteristic and to determine whether this study area undergone erosion or deposition of sedimentation. The sediment characteristic from analysis is to determine the mean size, sorting and skewness of the sediment. Overall, the sediment mean size is more to fine silt and for skewness is more to negative that indicates it is fine sand, and the sorting value is more too poorly sorted. For particle size analysis, the analysis is done by using Malvern Master Sizer 2000. From the study, the results for accretion rate show that the value for accretion rate is l .63cm/month. This study area is mostly, influenced by natural processes.
