A study of maritime safety for inshore fishermen at Kuala Terengganu

Abstract

This study aims to investigate, the safety of inshore fishermen in Kuala Terengganu. Safety is one important aspect that must be given priority, by inshore fishermen. Inshore fishermen are groups that carry out traditional activities. This study focuses on nine villages in the vicinity of Kuala Terengganu for the samples. Researcher distributed questionnaires to all inshore fishermen and interviewed each of the fishermen in the area of samples, as a means to collect information or data on the study. The researcher choose the area of Kuala Terengganu because, it nearest with him and many of inshore fishermen within this area. The researcher also preferred to previous studies as a reference in this study. At the end of the study, researcher decided that the safety of inshore fishermen in the vicinity of Kuala T erengganu is not guaranteed and should be given special attention by the responsible party.
