A study on the features of accommodation, recreational facilities and food on board Malaysian near coastal tanker and its impact to seafarer's well-being

Abstract

This report is to study the Features of Accommodation, Facilities and Food onboard Malaysian Near Coastal Tanker Ship to the Seafarer's Wellbeing. The objectives is to study the features of design of accommodation, recreational facilities provided and quality and quantity of food preparedness that may have an impact to the well-being of seafarers in Malaysian near coastal trading tanker. The questionnaires are used to collect field data and analysed using the Spreadsheet Google Document Software. From the analysis, the founding is the provision of welfare and the quality of foods and catering on board Malaysian near coastal tanker is still at below the average level. It is need more enhancing and developing measures on condition of welfare standard on board by all parties in Malaysian shipping industry toward to arrive at the state of readiness for ratification the Maritime Labour Convention to promoting a better lifestyle on board among seafarers.
