The exposure of seafaring career among youth in Kuala Terengganu

Abstract

Malaysia is one of the maritime nation. Strategic location of the country in the middle of sea route between west and east give us huge benefit to venture and involved in Maritime Industry. Thus, it requires high demand in sefaring career. Therefore, in Kuala Terengganu the response from youth regarding this career is still less. The objectives of this research are to determine the level of exposure about seafaring careeer among youth in Kuala Terengganu and to identify the reasons why they are not exposing to the career. This research also is conducted as to recommend the ways for improving the exposure of seafaring career to the youth. The primary resources were obtained through the methods of questionnaires that have been given to the secondary school students among form 4 and form 5 students. Interview session is conducted with the counselor of each school or any qualified person from the schools regarding the exposure of seafaring career among youth in Kuala Terengganu. The answers given from them also categorized as a primary resource. Then, the secondary resources were obtained from the articles, journal, newspapers and texts related to the research. Those data obtained is analyzed to meet the objectives.
